Description of Slovenia hut to hut tour

Join us on a 3-day, 2-night hiking tour in the Slovenian mountains. You will experience the joys of walking the Alps, such as stunning views and wildlife encounters, get the opportunity to try traditional homemade foods and learn about Slovenian mountaineering culture.

With this guided tour you will find yourself walking roughly 5 to 6 hours per day on trails of moderate difficulty, appropriate for most hikers and offering fascinating vistas of the high peaks of the Julian Alps.

The tour starts at the gorgeous Lake Bohinj and leads past high pastures dotted with grazing cattle, the source of famous Slovenian cheeses and soured milk. As we ascend further, the terrain will become more rocky and the scenery will change to majestic rugged slopes with scarce alpine vegetation, the home of graceful wild climbers, such as chamois or ibex

This trail leads you past pristine alpine lakes, each with its own shape, colour and story, as well as numerous opportunities for scenic rest breaks along the way.

For those most keen, there will be a chance to add an extra peak after each hut we reach, while the rest can enjoy the scenic atmosphere at that night’s shelter.

The tour is easy and not technically demanding, suitable for everyone. However, you should be able to hike for 5-6 hours per day. The route is flexible so it can suit beginners as well as more experienced and eager hikers in search of adrenaline.

This hiking trip wasn’t only cool because we got to witness the best parts of Slovenia’s Julian Alps, but also the way it was organized. They picked us up and took us to the Triglav National Park. The guide made sure everyone could keep up on the steeper areas and told us some really useful info about the mountains… Plus, our group was awesome! I’ve never stayed in mountain huts before, but I’m definitely doing it again. The views were jaw-dropping, the food was amazing and I got to experience the Slovenian alpine spirit first-hand. It’s certainly the best way of exploring the mountains and you don’t have to worry about the logistics, booking huts, etc. Highly recommend it!

I have to say that this was an amazing hiking trip. The itinerary was planned to perfection. I never knew there were so many beautiful lakes in the Slovenian mountains. Our guide took us down some ridiculously picturesque routes we would probably miss out on if going at it alone. He adapted the hike to a doable pace, so the whole group felt comfortable. The huts we stayed at were cosy, warm and we had the pleasure of meeting a few interesting people to share the views with. Way beyond expectations and very rewarding.

It was my first time hiking in a group. I was exploring Slovenia for two weeks and decided to join this journey to see mountains and meet new people. For me the trip was very easy but also nice. All wonders of Triglav park, lakes, beautiful mountains, panorama… and watching the sunrise from the huts… Fantastic! Also the guide was friendly in communication and I learn a lot. I saw so much in 3 days! Good food and drink and great company. If you want some super hiking, meet people and experience beautiful nature go in this trip!

  • Hey! It was our family’s second visit to Slovenia and we wanted to do a longer tour of the mountains. The three-day hike across the pastures and forests from lake Bohinj, through the Triglav lakes valley and up to Mt Krn sounded like a superb way of exploring the mountains. Well, it really was! We got to see so much of Slovenia’s amazing Alps. The journey was long but very enjoyable. Our guide was so much fun and talked us through what we saw on the way. The hiking speed was perfect and we made a number of stops to rest. Which were definitely needed! 10/10 points for organization!:) At the huts we tried tasty local dishes and sleeping up in the mountains was a very special experience. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone!
