Description of waterfalls hiking tour

Slovenia is home to many spectacular waterfalls, but the two falls of Martuljek have a special place in the hearts of locals.

Seated deep within sheer rock, they are not only a marvel of nature, but a supreme hiking destination. We will trace their streams up the mighty mountain walls where the first waterfall awaits.

A path through the woods will take us to the second (and the more spectacular) one, where you will be able to take pictures in front of the stunning 34-metre fall behind.

On our way back, we will visit an authentic traditional charcoal pile where people still practice one of humanity’s oldest crafts - turning wood into charcoal.

The first part is short and easy, suitable for everyone. The optional extension to the second waterfall is a bit more technically demanding and requires basic hiking experience.

Highlights on the tour

  • Refreshing forests during the summer
  • The original charcoal pile and coal making
  • Two waterfalls of Martuljek (freefall of 29 and 34 metres)
  • View of the north face of Špik mountain

Perfect if you want to get away from the summer heat. We hiked by the river bed mostly all the time and it's nice and chill. The waterfalls are great! And it's not that steep to hike.

I enjoyed this hike a lot! The trail towards the upper waterfall was a bit more challenging for us, but our guide always kept an eye on us, so we all felt comfortable. The scenery is beautiful. I recommend.

Even if you don't go all the way to the higher waterfall, it's still a very nice tour. I enjoyed it a lot. And also the view of the mountain Spik is just breathtaking.
